Week three was geology with Håkan. We had two days to focus on a variety of topics within the subject. Studying the geological history of the Swedish mountains was particularly interesting considering they were once the tallest mountains on Earth. From there we went more in-depth to various types of stones and minerals and learned to identify several types. Håkan brought this all together by connecting stone types to plants and, for example, how to identify calcaerous stone by looking for fjällsippa and other calkoholic plants.
We had a bonus on Saturday and Sunday playing injured patients for Fjällredare training in Lycksele. We did a great job of faking snowmobile accidents and laying in the snow. It was a good experience how fjällreddning works and also refresh our first aid training.
